Joe Biden is crashing. Bernie and Lizzie are unelectable. So who is there? No one else seems to be getting any traction, although there are still some clinging to the hope that they will catch fire somehow and win the hearts of the Democratic electorate. Super Tuesday is usually the day when a clear frontrunner starts to distance himself or herself from the pack. This year it will be more about IF there will be a clear frontrunner coming out of the current field.
The more the impeachment circus drags on, the more negative information has been coming out about Joe Biden and all the shady dealings he had concerning his family and the millions of dollars they have amassed during all these years of Joe’s public service. So much so that even the MSM has been forced to at least report on the allegations. If the DNC Politburo decides that they can no longer put their anointed candidate on the ballot, they may permit the networks to do their jobs.
If Biden falls, who is left? Bernie Sanders scares the Party Establishment so much they are already planting stories about how crazy this guy is. They even trotted out their heroin, Hillary Clinton, to take a pot shot at him and slink back into the woods. Their fear of Bernie is so intense that they have been trying desperately to divert any serious investigation into the Bidens when in saner times a candidate s damaged as Biden would have been quietly convinced to recuse himself under whatever pretense he chose.
The elephant in the room right now is Michael Bloomberg. His primary qualification is money. Not money he was able to raise from people who support him, but his own. He is little more than a monkey wrench in the Primary process right now because while he may see himself in as some leftist Donald Trump candidate, he does not have anywhere near the populist support has. His modest rise in the polls has little to do with anything he is bringing to the table but more to do with his uncontested ads running in states where the other candidates have not yet started campaigning in earnest.
All this could lead to what many Democrats fear most-a a brokered Convention. This summer’s gathering in Milwaulkee could be fun for those of us looking in. Stay tuned.
