I was watching a mother’s panel on fox news this morning, and one of the ladies mentioned a website called bernietax.com. Out of curiosity, I took a look at it. And based on what he presents there, my disposable income would be almost 100 dollars a week more. Sounds great, right? If you ignore the reality that what is presented there is utter nonsense, you might be tempted to support the Sanders candidacy. If you can overlook the fact that his proposals would double or even triple the federal budget, it is easy to convince yourself that middle and lower-income taxpayers will pay less under a Sanders administration. You also might want to check to see if someone has mixed peyote into your weed.
Bernie has become quite adept at dodging the question of the price tag of all the “free” stuff he keeps promising the gullible and the stupid. Health care, as proposed by Sanders, would cost more than the entire current federal budget. He also wants to cancel all student loan debt, make college free for everyone, and provide universal pre-k for all. When pressed for details, he merely says the rich and the corporations will pay their “fair share.” No, they won’t. Economics 101: Companies never pay a penny in tax. They include it in their cost of doing business and pass it on to their customers. The rich and their money will run for the proverbial hills should this buffoon get elected, and the only ones who will benefit will be the tax havens.
But Bernie lives in a fantasy world. In his world, Castro was cool because he taught his subjects to read and write before he imprisoned and shot them for doing just that. Cuba was such a beautiful place to live that thousands risked their lives to get here on literally anything that would float. In Bernie’s world China is a paragon of progress and prosperity as long as you can ignore the imprisonment, torture, and murder of millions. The people of Hong Kong are not impressed. They are getting beaten, teargassed, and shot in the streets for having the audacity to protest the Beijing interference on their island. Unlike Sanders and his idiot followers, they are not interested in the Chinese socialist paradise.
It will be interesting to see tonight at the Democratic debate if the other candidates take advantage of the free oppo research the DNC has instructed its minions in the press to trumpet. Not that all this stuff isn’t true. But the Democrats and their propagandist media are becoming quite proficient at releasing information and videos at a time expertly calculated to do those they oppose the most harm.
But in Bernie’s world, he is going to get the nomination and beat President Trump. But the reality is that should he get the nomination, it would be a forty state landslide for President Trump. And the powers that be in the DNC know that. I have a feeling that as long as Sanders is in this race, he will be targeted in a way that is usually reserved for Republican Supreme Court nominees and Donald Trump. Welcome to the real world, Bernie.
