So we have yet another overwhelmingly partisan impeachment farce perpetrated by Pelosi and company and the presiding judge is going to be a partisan Democratic Senator who has already called for the conviction of Donald Trump. Senator Leahy’s pledge of impartiality has about as much credibility Biden’s repetitive and empty promise of seeking unity in his inaugural address. Once again the Democrats-and a handful of loathsome Republicans-are taking words he actually said and prosecuting on what they claim he meant. But that is the world we live in. Deviate from the approved Newspeak and the thought police will have you in the basement of the Ministry of Love before you know it to deal with your sedition.
There are a few places on the planet where this type of kangaroo court procedure would be acceptable, even normal. Venezuela, Cuba, China, North Korea, Iran, Russia-places like that. Is that where we are headed? The Democrats are drunk with power right now and since the press stopped bothering to do their jobs twelve years ago and instead sold their souls to the Party, their has been almost no oversight in the public square to put a check on these thugs, with the notable exception of a relative few struggling to be heard over the din of the constant stream of propaganda fed nightly through the subservient MSM. Otherwise the travesty if justice taking place here could never happen.
Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., pledged Monday to remain impartial in his role presiding over former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial next month despite his past call for the Senate to convict Trump over his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. Under normal conditions, the Constitution dictates that Chief Justice John Roberts would preside over an impeachment trial. However, since Trump has already left office, Roberts is not constitutionally required to fill the role and Leahy, the Senate’s president pro tempore, will take his place. Leahy, 80, was a vocal critic of Trump after his supporters stormed the Capitol, calling for him to be convicted on impeachment charges and barred from holding office in the future. But in a statement released shortly after his key role in the trial surfaced, Leahy said his personal political views would not impact his judgment.
