The only reason that this is the right decision is because indoor dining should never have been shut down in the first place. Like many incompetents Cuomo does stuff just to make it look like he is addressing the problem. When indoor dining was shut down it was well documented that it was responsible for a tiny fraction of the spread of the CCP virus. A rather large percentage of the spread was shown to be in the home at family gatherings. So what does this brilliant Emmy winning tactician do? He closes the restaurants and sends everyone back home and then is astonished that all the wrong numbers keep going up. Now under intense pressure from everyone with an ounce of common sense he has decided to open indoor dining. So yes it is the right decision, but it is one that never should have had to be made.
Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that indoor dining can resume in New York City on Valentine’s Day, despite nearly every coronavirus metric being worse than it was when he banned indoor dining in the first place. When Cuomo announced Dec. 11 that indoor dining would be banned in New York City, the 7-day average of coronavirus cases per 100,000 people in the city was 40.2, according to data from the New York Times. When he announced Jan. 29 that indoor dining could resume, that number was 66.1 – 64% higher than the average per-capita case counts in December.
