An update on the border situation, from CBS: “As of Sunday morning, U.S. Border Patrol was holding more than 4,200 unaccompanied migrant children in short-term holding facilities, including jail-like stations unfit to house minors.” This represents a 31 percent increase from the previous week, with an average of 565 minors entering CBP custody each day. 81 percent of Democrats reportedly favor what President Joe Biden is doing on immigration. The House of Representatives will take up immigration reform legislation this week, including the American Dream and Promise Act and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, which are separate measures from President Joe Biden’s U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021. The first piece of legislation would create legal pathways to citizenship for individuals brought to the U.S. illegally as children, while the second would create a process for individuals who have worked at least 180 days in agriculture over the past 2 years to earn a green card.
