Cordileone: Catholics’ right to worship ‘unjustly repressed’ by government

None of the Churches, Synagogues, or any other places of worship should ever have accepted any restrictions from governmental authorities. We gave them an inch and they took the rest, as governments always do.

SAN FRANCISCO (CNS) — In imposing severe restrictions on indoor worship services because of COVID-19 protocols, the city of San Francisco “is turning a great many faithful away from their houses of prayer,” said San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone.

“I never expected that the most basic religious freedom, the right to worship — protected so robustly in our Constitution’s First Amendment — would be unjustly repressed by an American government,” he said in an op-ed for The Washington Post. It was posted the evening of Sept. 16 on the daily newspaper’s website.

“But that is exactly what is happening in San Francisco. For months now, the city has limited worship services to just 12 people outdoors. Worship inside our own churches is banned,” he continued.

“The city recently announced it will now allow 50 for outdoor worship, with a goal of permitting indoor services up to a maximum of 25 people by Oct. 1 — less than 1% of the capacity of San Francisco’s St. Mary’s Cathedral.”

“This is not nearly enough to accommodate the hundreds of thousands of Catholics in San Francisco,” he added.

Trump’s Doctor Says He’s Doing ‘Very Well’ at Walter Reed

Michael Moore must be beside himself with grief.

President Donald Trump’s doctor on Saturday said he is doing well. “This morning, the president is doing very well,” Dr. Sean Conley, the president’s physician, said at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland on Saturday. “The team and I are extremely happy with the progress the president has made.” Trump had a mild cough, nasal congestion, and fatigue, but all the symptoms are “resolving and improving,” Conley told reporters at a press conference. Dr. Sean Dooley, a Walter Reed pulmonologist, said Trump is receiving multidisciplinary care.

Hong Kong police fire tear gas, water cannon amid protests

While the world is distracted by COVID-19 Red China continues to demonstrate what they are really about.

Hong Kong police fired tear gas and a water cannon as thousands took to the streets Sunday — as controversial new security laws from China aimed at crushing the protests sparked the most intense clashes in months. Crowds of pro-democracy demonstrators dressed in black gathered in a popular shopping district, chanting slogans such as “Stand with Hong Kong,” “Liberate Hong Kong” and “Revolution of our times.” The protest did not receive official authorization — and broke local coronavirus social-distancing restrictions, which ban groups of more than eight people meeting. Police raised blue flags, warning protesters to disperse, before firing multiple rounds of tear gas — then firing from a water cannon.

Brooklyn field hospital never saw a coronavirus patient

The COVID-19 crisis is a real crisis. Drastic measures were needed to ensure that we did not have mortality like that suffered in Belgium, Great Britain, and Italy. But the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights have been on pause long enough. We have suspended due process, the legislative process, and common sense while granting fascist state like powers to governors and mayors. We have witnessed a classic exhibition of the old bromide, “Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

Mario Cuomo, Bill de Blasio, Gavin Newsom, et al.; have had a taste of something they have long craved: total control over the lives of ordinary citizens, crushing private enterprise, and making everyone dependent of government largess. It has been a Progressive (fascist) wet dream, so it should come as no surprise that they have been loathed to give it up and return control to the people, where it belongs.

A roughly $21 million Brooklyn field hospital authorized by the de Blasio administration at the height of the coronavirus pandemic opened and closed without ever seeing one patient, according to city officials. The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook was one of several sites across the five boroughs converted into a medical facility as a way to relieve the city’s overburdened hospital system as the COVID-19 crisis mounted. Mayor Bill de Blasio announced plans on Mar. 31 — a day after the USNS Comfort hospital ship arrived in New York Harbor to aid in the coronavirus fight — for the $20.8 million Red Hook field hospital with an estimated capacity for 750 beds. The field hospital was built by Texas-based construction company SLSCO. “They are going to set it up rapidly and we’re then going to go to the next site, the next site, the next site to meet our goal,” de Blasio told reporters of the site during that press conference in which the mayor also outlined the details to turn Queens’ Billie Jean King National Tennis Center into a 350-bed temporary hospital.

When you give up your freedom for security you wind up with neither

The country is virtually shut down. Businesses are closing. Unemployment offices are being swamped by new claims. And suddenly just the act of leaving your house can make you the object of police action like the one below and a governor just snatching freedoms away at a whim. While we are “hunkered down” at home the stateists are stealing our country right out from under us.

Bret Baier says China stepping up international ‘propaganda game’ to look ‘benevolent’ amid pandemic | Fox News

I was watching CBS this morning and low and behold there was one of Red China’s useful idiots trying to pass off the Wuhan Chinese Virus as a European Virus. He was citing some vague and unverifiable data that COVID-19 was actually transmitted to the US population from European countries. Then he added as an afterthought, “although its roots were in China.” Cut the crap. The virus originated in Wuhan, Chin and actions intentionally taken by the Chinese government insured that it would spread throughout China and into the rest of the world.

“Special Report” anchor and executive editor Bret Baier told “Bill Hemmer Reports” Thursday that China appears to be increasing its public relations efforts in a bid to blunt the fury of the international response to its handling of the coronavirus pandemic. “There’s a real effort by China to step up its PR game, its propaganda game, around the world and to send aid not only to the U.S., [and] to Europe,” Baier said, “but to be the benevolent player in the coronavirus scandal because it really is a scandal in the early days [in terms] of what those numbers were coming out of China.” Baier also noted that Japan, Beijing’s third-largest trading partner, recently instituted a $2 billion fund for companies that take production out of China and either back to Japan or to another nation.

Sean Hannity: Cuomo’s coronavirus failure – the real reason for New York’s ventilator shortage | Fox News

It’s always so much easier to cover your own incompetence by blaming others for your failure. It’s a lesson Cuomo has learned well.

Every New Yorker needs to know that Gov. “all talk no action” Andrew Cuomo has failed to deliver for the people of his state during the crisis created by the coronavirus pandemic. While the Democratic governor continues to blame President Trump for a ventilator shortage in New York, a state Health Department report warned Cuomo all the way back in 2015 about this exact problem. Everyone needs to read this report. On Page 30 the Health Department report on ventilator allocation guidelines states: “during a severe influenza pandemic, there is likely to be a projected shortfall of ventilators (-15,783) during peak week demand.” But that’s not all. At the beginning of that report the New York State Health Commissioner, Dr. Howard Zucker wrote: “Dear New Yorkers, Protecting the health and well-being of New Yorkers is a core objective of the Department of Health. During flu season, we are reminded that pandemic influenza is a foreseeable threat, one that we cannot ignore. In light of this possibility, the Department is taking steps to prepare for a pandemic and to limit the loss of life and other negative consequences. “An influenza pandemic would affect all New Yorkers, and we have a responsibility to plan now. Part of the planning process is to develop guidance on how to ethically allocate limited resources (i.e., ventilators) during a severe influenza pandemic while saving the most lives. “As part of our emergency preparedness efforts, the Department, together with the New York State Task Force on Life and the Law, is releasing the 2015 Ventilator Allocation Guidelines, which provide an ethical, clinical, and legal framework to assist health care providers and the general public in the event of a severe influenza pandemic…” Where was the response from the governor? Where was the sense of urgency after such an explicit warning?

Sean Hannity: Gov. Cuomo, stop denying New Yorkers hydroxychloroquine | Fox News

I don’t understand the reasoning for not making this available via prescription from qualified medical professionals.

Enough is enough. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo needs to IMMEDIATELY lift his pharmacy ban that is forcing New Yorkers stricken by the coronavirus into an already overburdened hospital system to get the potentially life-saving drug hydroxychloroquine. Because of an executive order issued by the Democratic governor, any new prescriptions for hydroxychloroquine must go through the already overrun hospital system. This makes no sense. Sources tell me that Cuomo has access to MILLIONS of doses of hydroxychloroquine right now. The federal government has tens of millions of doses and has made millions of doses available to the New York governor. I live on Long Island and many doctors are telling me that they want to prescribe this medication to their patients who test positive for COVID-19 – the disease caused by the coronavirus – but do NOT need the patient to come to a hospital. However, Cuomo’s executive order forbids pharmacies from filling the prescriptions. The governor is creating a much bigger crisis in his state’s hospital system by denying New Yorkers THE CHOICE (in consultation with their doctors) to take this potentially life-saving medication.

Day 14

I had to do something today I had hoped I would never have to do again-file for unemployment. It took almost two hours on the website, but ultimately I did get through and did what I had to do. The only thing about my previous unemployment experience was that I knew what to expect, and I already had an active account on the website. All I can tell you is that if your state has online filing unemployment, you should take advantage of it. It may be frustrating, and you may get timed out even after you think you’re almost done and have to start again. Just do it. It’s still a lot better than the first time I ever had to file when a company I worked for many years got taken over and then downsized most of us out. This was long before online anything, so I had to physically go down to the Unemployment Office in person and do everything we do on our laptops today. Just think how much worse it would be if that system were still in place. You would have to get on the line outside the building at 4:00 AM and hope you even got in the door by lunchtime. So cheer up. It could be worse. A lot worse.

Spending a lot more time working on my book and hit my self imposed goal again yesterday but took some time off for some Skype time with our granddaughter. Part of her bedtime stalling was that “I want to read a story to Papa!” So Margie and I got on Skype, and she read the story. And then another one. And yet one more. She finally tired of the ruse and blew us a kiss goodnight, but I don’t know exactly when she went to sleep. She did not seem in the least bit sleepy. I’ll have to ask my daughter later.

We are at the point now where we are not leaving the apartment for anything unless it is unavoidable. I will probably make one of these inevitable trips tomorrow to the laundry and the bank. Some things still need to be done, but taking the types of precautions, I usually make fun of germaphobes for doing. Oh well, I guess the whole idea now is to stay safe. I can’t wait until we get to live again rather than just stay alive.

Chronology: Trump Was On Top Of Coronavirus While Biden Mocked

Biden has been nothing but divisive in his reaction to this crises. that is the exact opposite of how a leader behaves. Further proof of his utter incompetence.

The leftist national media incessantly reports that the spread of the coronavirus is, well, President Trump’s fault. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, always good for the most incendiary and least helpful comments in any difficult situation, said on Sunday, “[T]he president — his denial at the beginning was deadly.” Then in Joe Biden’s latest effort to be relevant, his campaign has released an ad attacking President Trump for not being sufficiently responsive to the threats of the coronavirus from the “beginning.” Here is a key fact: In the beginning, China lied. People died. Although the first case of the coronavirus was reported in Wuhan, China in early December 2019, the Chinese authorities continued through January 2020 to downplay the potential for the disease to spread. The World Health Organization (WHO) reinforced China’s falsehoods, saying on Jan. 14 that “Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in Wuhan, China.” This was five to six weeks after the opposite was confirmed to be the case in Wuhan.
